On stage 7 with the Cima Strada on the Blockhaus, a work celebrating the centenary of the historic athlete
In the first year of the Giro d’Italia Women organized by RCS Sport, which coincides with the centenary of Alfonsina Strada’s participation in the Giro d’Italia, it was decided to dedicate the summit of Blockhaus to this fantastic athlete, as was previously done with the Cima Coppi in the Giro d’Italia.
In honour of the Cima Alfonsina Strada and the athlete herself, an art installation was created that reads ‘DON’T STOP’ and portrays the historic athlete. “The work is a unique piece. I used an airbrush and marker technique and then it was polished with a protective coating. It is a real street sign” is how Tuscan street artist Matteo Filippeschi aka Dela Vega describes his work.
The sign has been placed inside the park road, at the top of the Blockhaus, near the Rifugio Pomilio.
